One Phone Call

Filed under: Just do it., Liliana, yes, that's me. | 09/15/2008 (4:57 pm) |

I make things happen.
Don’t you?
It’s easier than you think.
Sometimes it’s just about a phone call.
An example.
Sao Miguel do Gostoso is a small place lost in the midst of Brazil’s northeast.

Eight thousand inhabitants. Touristic focused place.

Shitty internet connection.

I need a good broad band connection to work properly. So I got in touch with the CEO from the ISP (internet Service Provider) in the city where I currently live, Sao Francisco Xavier, in the other side of Brazil (it is far away, believe me) and explained to him the possibilities of earning a lot of money if he opens the market here.

He liked it a lot.

I’ve opened up his eyes to a new market he’s never thought about. And everybody wins.

Got it?

I’m not that kind of person who only complains.

My dogs are at my house in Sao Francisco Xavier, in a small ranch I have. I can’t call it my home anymore. I’m not happy there anymore ever since some stuff happened in my life.

So I traveled like the woman in that film, and I bought a little house at the beach but this house is really wrecked and I have to rebuild it before I move in.

That is why I’m living in a hotel.

The place is very beautiful, the staff is nice. But it is not a real home.

I miss my dogs. I miss hanging around in my pajamas. I miss silence.

I am used to being alone most of the time and look for people to talk to when I’m in the mood for it.

Here in the hotel, I’m always in the spot. I have to go out to eat. It stresses me.

I like to think myself as a lone wolf.

    Quiet.

I met the buggy man 3 days ago at the crêperie.

At first glance I thought he was short and unattractive. And I wouldn’t change my mind afterwards.

    But he tried.

He asked me to take a ride in his buggy to see the sunset at the most beautiful beach.

He made me a luau and cooked me a fish yesterday night under the full moon.

    Nothing.

    Nada.

    Not at all.

Writing these words down I realize he made quite an effort to get my heart or to get into something else.

I was nice and polite. And offered friendship.

    But his face…

    Pure deception.

At the end, he drop me half way to my hotel and let me walk the rest.

    Ok, I can walk.

I love this song, I love Priscilla. But I disagree.

There’s a breed of women like me that’s really free…

    It rhymed! :)

    Simple

    Life is simple.

    Or it should be.

I notice people who don’t know whether they like something or not.

How come? It’s simple: do you like it? Yes or no?

Only two answers. No other possibilities.

I don’t like being mistreated. So… I don’t hang around with people who mistreat me.

If you make a choice, you automatically have a possible action to perform according to that choice you have made. And if you don’t act knowing that you don’t like something, you feel like an asshole.

Nobody wants to be an asshole.

That’s why it is easy not to know a simple yes or no.

You have to be brave to make your life simple.

  • Hello world!

    Who Am I?

    Nice to meet you.

    I am Liliana.

A friend said once: you’re like Madonna or Cher. You are Liliana. You are “The” Liliana.

So, for all intent and purposes, I don’t have any other names.

I am a blogger. An old one. I started blogging back in the early nineties and I’m 45 years old. That’s why I’m old.

I have a history in Medicine. I am a neurosurgeon. No, really, I am. I used to perform surgeries on brains and stuff. Then I went to a small town at the rain forest like that guy on the TV show Everwood and became a physician practicing Homeophatics and Intern Medicine a long time before the TV show.

Now I live at the beach in another small town at the northeast of Brazil. And the name of this city can be translated into “Pleasure”.

I like to blog. It’s as simple as that.

I blog to make people feel good about themselves. I tell about my daily life, my thoughts, my tips on life.

I can write about everything. And nothing.

No one tells me what to do.

I just do it for my own pleasure. I live life to be happy.

And I want you to be happy too.

Be welcome to my blog, The Liliana Blog.
